Malunderstood by Kenny Streule at the Hamilton Fringe Festival

Kenny and his grandmother are hitting the road this summer! KS Presents is thrilled to present the Ontario-premiere of the Montreal sold-out hit production of Malunderstood at the Hamilton Fringe Festival. Written and performed by Kenny Streule, Malunderstood is directed by the Executive and Artistic Director of MainLine Theatre, Amy Blackmore.

A grandmother should spoil you from time to time, no? Well, not Kenny Streule's grandmother. Immerse yourself in a collection of memories that explain how Kenny was raised by a wild beaver. Using comedy, puppetry and movement, he examines his relationship with his Swiss German grandmother.

“Thanks to my trilingual upbringing, I am often Malunderstood, as I didn’t manage to learn how to articulate in any language very well. Neither English, nor French, nor Swiss German. That said, I did manage to learn many important life lessons from my evil grandmother, revealed throughout the show. Now it is time to launch this mini-tour in Hamilton for new audiences to discover my grandmother too.” - Kenny Streule, creator and performer of Malunderstood.

“Malunderstood is a fantastic one-man story, that’s almost like sitting with your best-friend through 45-minutes of therapy.” - Beth Mckenna, Curtainsup.tv

From humble beginnings growing up on a Brome Lake dairy farm southeast of Montreal, Kenny always aspired to be an actor. His passion for creating has led him to establish his own theatre company which produced his first play since high school, City Boy, based on the life of his cousin living in the country. He performed in his first solo autobiographical show, Malunderstood at MainLine Theatre, where he works as Artistic Producer of MainLine and the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival. Selected performance credits include the Narrator in Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show (MainLine Theatre), Lysander/Peter Quince in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (The Montreal Shakespeare Company) and Christopher Marlowe in Conspiracy! (Chocolate Moose Theatre Company). He is currently the VP of the Quebec Drama Federation (QDF) board of directors and is an active member of the Montreal performing arts community.
